To Our Customers:

MAKE SURE YOUR DEDUCT METERS ARE WORKING AND READING CORRECTLY!

With the hot, sunny weather, many of our customers are watering more often. The Hooksett Sewer Commission would like to remind our customers to make sure their Deduct Meters are working properly. We cannot give you deduct credits if we can’t get correct readings. Please make sure your OUTSIDE reader matches the reading on the meter INSIDE your house.

The inside deduct meter is usually located above the regular water meter. If you are not sure which meter is which, look on your most current water bill and the regular water meter should have a reading that corresponds with that number (although it will be higher).

To see if the meter is working properly, take the readings for both inside meters. Run water from an outside spigot, then check to see that the meters have moved both inside and outside (you may or may not have a water meter outside that you can read, but the deduct meter should have a dial on it).

If it looks that your deduct meter is not working, you will need to contact a plumber to find the problem. Remember, homeowners own the deduct meters, not the water department; therefore you are responsible for the upkeep of the meter.

If you have any questions, please contact the Sewer Department at 485-4112.
